Schepen van ICT Kristl Strubbe (Open Vld) is bijzonder blij: “Vandaag is wereldwijd de dag van de gebruiksvriendelijkheid en we zijn in Mechelen fier dat we ook op dit vlak mooie resultaten neerzetten. Het is een fijne afsluiter van zes jaar ICT-beleid met dank aan ons geweldige ICT-team.” Een professionele jury met leden uit binnen- en buitenland koos uit 103 inzendingen de 10 meest gebruiksvriendelijke websites uit. De beoordeling gebeurde via criteria zoals algemene indruk, homepage, overzichts- en detailpagina’s, navigatie, zoekfunctie, formulieren, content en mobile initiatieven. Mechelen.be kreeg lof van de jury voor haar focus op kerntaken en veelgezochte items. Hoewel lovend blijft de jury ook steeds kritisch en gaf daarnaast als verbeterpunten de mobiele versie van de website en de ‘hyperactieve’ carroussel op de startpagina mee. Juryvoorzitster Els Aerts: “Stad Mechelen werkt al jaren hard aan hun website en dat zie je. De recente veranderingen plaatsen de bezoeker nog meer centraal. De doorgedreven aandacht op de homepage voor de openingsuren, contactinfo en populaire pagina’s is daar een uitstekend voorbeeld van. Maar opgelet: als Mechelen de voortrekkersrol op het vlak van internet niet wil verliezen, moet de stad stilaan een tandje bijsteken. De andere Vlaamse steden en gemeenten zijn hun achterstand langzaam maar zeker aan het inlopen.”
De awards zijn een initiatief van het bekende consulting bureau AGConsult in samenwerking met Microsoft. De winnaars verdelen onderling een prijzenpot van 20.000 euro bestaande uit usability tools en consulting. De Mechelse ICT afdeling zal hiervan gebruik maken voor de verdere uitbouw en verbetering van het online stadsplatform. Naast de stad Mechelen viel ook Torfs.be (jury award profit) en de gemeente Mol (jury award non-profit) in de prijzen.
Meest bekroonde stadswebsite
Deze award zorgt voor een unicum. Mechelen.be is de meest bekroonde stadswebsite ooit en kaapte de voorbije jaren elke Belgische e-gov award weg.
“Het digitale parcours van de stad oogt spectaculair. Mechelen.be won verscheidene awards, lanceerde enkele Vlaamse en zelfs wereldprimeurs terwijl het gebruik van de Mechelse websites verviervoudigde”, aldus schepen Kristl Strubbe.
